The use of whey protein is certainly not new to the health scene, rather its recorded usage in Europe in 1749 gave rise to the beginnings of many spas throughout the Swiss, German and Austrian countryside, with people flocking to these centers to avail themselves of this great new product, which was derived as a by product of the cheese making process.
This was not the first recorded use of the whey protein, as Hippocrates was in fact the first to recommend the use of this supplement to promote the health and wellbeing of his patients.
Although whey protein powder provides a valuable component to the nutrition needs of the body, it should be taken in addition to a well balanced diet, and not as a total replacement, but rather that of a supplemental product to contribute to your nutrition, as well as providing a number of additional benefits as highlighted below.
There are naturally a number of benefits that are provided by the whey protein powder, which when taken will aid in providing you with much needed energy, as well as revitalizing your muscles after exercising, which is of course an ideal partner to such supplementation.
There are numerous benefits, in terms of the bodys metabolism and cellular function that is bolstered by the intake of whey protein powder. These include the promotion of the correct intake of vitamins, proteins, minerals, carbohydrates, which further in turn helps the user in terms of the weight management goals; primarily due to the fact that the satiety, or fullness signals are given from the body, alleviating the sense of hunger. whey protein powder has further been linked to supporting the immune system because of the immunoglobulin found within the supplement. In some of the whey protein powder products there are additional supplements found therein, such as glutamine which has been linked to a number of medical benefits, including aiding in the faster recovery on a post surgical basis, as well as being used in the successful treatment of depression anxiety patients, not to mention those being treated for alcoholism.
As mentioned the whey protein powder is a product or by product made during the cheese making process, and with the advancement of technology one has access to the purest form of whey protein powders, commonly referred to as isolates, which one can implement within their daily diet to not only provide them with that added energy and boost, but also for their overall health and wellbeing.
The use of whey protein powder should not be a total replacement of your dietary intake, but should rather be used in conjunction with the intake of a sensible diet that can provide the maximum benefits to you in terms of the required nutrition, that you body requires.

If you are looking for a colon cleansing diet, there are many options to choose from that are available. Some of them include high fiber type diets, while others may focus on liquids.
The general theory behind colon cleansing diets is that if the colon is not functioning properly and expelling waste and bacteria, these things could then poison our systems and cause our bodies to run sluggishly.
In addition, it is also believed that toxins in the colon actually cause our immune systems to have some kind of protective response where it retains more water and fat than normal to use as a barrier against these toxins. As a result, it is accepted by many people that if you cleanse the colon and get it working better, that your body will release excess stored fat very quickly.
Some of the colon cleansing diets focus on lemon juice, prune juice or some other kind of food as part of its base formula. One of the most popular is the acai berry cleanse.
Acai berries have gained massive exposure lately as scientists and others reveal just how powerful this fruit is with its huge amounts of antioxidants and nutrients. Since a cleanse is generally flushing the body of both waste and nutrients, acai berry formulas help to replenish these lost nutrients and balance your system. Although there are various forms of acai available, many users select the concentrated capsules for both the acai supplement and as the cleanse mechanism.
The capsules are easy to take daily, can be transported anywhere, and are far less costly when compared to some of the other methods of cleansing.

10 Ways to Positively Assist Your Metabolism by Jim Nash
by Jim Nash
Have you ever felt like you could just look at food and gain weight? Do you remember when you could eat anything and not gain a pound? What happened? Where did the new Gut come from? Obviously, there are many factors that affect our weight. However, you have more power than you might think when it comes to supercharging your metabolism. A few simple changes in your daily habits can give you the edge in achieving your weight loss goals. Take a look at these ten simple steps to get you started.
Eating too much of the wrong things is what gets most of us in trouble with our weight. So, how do we lose the weight without starving ourselves on small portions of meat and "rabbit food"? I have some great news. Seven of our ways to boost your metabolism involve eating. First, make sure you eat within 45 minutes of waking up. Your mom was right when she told you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you don't eat, you can expect your body to conserve calories for the rest of the day, instead of burning them away. Next, add eating every 4-6 hours to your list. Just make sure that you are choosing foods with protein in every meal. This includes foods such as egg whites, cheese, soy milk, lean meat, turkey, chicken, fish, pork, kidney beans and peas. Protein helps build muscle which burns calories much more efficiently throughout your life. You will also want to add 7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables to your daily meal plan. This means you can eat a lot of food which is high in fiber to help you feel full. Include negative calorie food throughout the day. Some examples include apples, asparagus, berries, broccoli, cabbage, celery, cauliflower, chili, garlic, grapefruit, lemon, mango, onion, orange, papaya, pineapple, spinach, and zucchini. Surly you can find something you love to eat with all these wonderful foods.
Water is another important factor to losing weight. An easy way to determine how much water you need each day is to weigh yourself and cut that number in half. You should drink that many ounces of water each day. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, you should drink approximately 100 ounces of water. Sound crazy to you? The first few days may be difficult. It's OK not to drink all your water right away, but try to drink a little more each day and soon you won't even think about it. The final step involving food is the only one that involves cutting back. When choosing your foods, make sure you avoid alcohol, sugar, and fasting. There are many choices you can make that are healthy and tasty, so you should easily find something you like.
It is also important to be active. Start with 30-45 minutes of cardio in the morning. This will get your metabolism started for the day even if you are not pushing yourself to the limit. You will also want to build muscle tone through resistance training. It will take about 3 months to see results, but remember that your muscles will help to burn calories more efficiently. If all this sounds like hard work to you, the last way to boost your metabolism will make you very happy. Make sure that you get 8 hours of deep sleep every night. Studies show that people who get 8 hours of sleep have a higher metabolic rate than those who sleep less than 6 hours.
Exercise that fits into your lifestyle and a healthy diet of great tasting foods can make all the difference. There are many ways to eat what you want and get all the nutrition that your body needs. Exercise doesn't have to be hard, but once you start moving, you'll feel better and better. Take time to learn more about the exciting ways that you can rev up your metabolism.
